It was a wild and energetic night at the Edmonton Expo Centre and Flashworks Photobooth had the pleasure of catering to a animated group of attendees at the Canadian Finals Rodeo on behalf of Jim Beam and Alberta Premium.

“The Buckle,” was the party headquarters of the CFR located in Hall H. It was fairly dark inside and gobos projected floor to ceiling western-themed imagery on the walls such as a cow skull, cactus, star, and cowboy riding a bronco, along with a Buckle and Budweiser logos. It wouldn’t be a rodeo without a mechanical bull, and lo and behold, one was located near the entrance doors. Other landmarks included a gigantic blow-up Budweiser can and cow skull signs that were a great signpost for people to congregate around. A long Budweiser semitrailer truck was parked inside a white picket fence enclosure and featured a raised platform from where people got an unobstructed view of the stage. Nearby, an Alberta Premium logo shone on the wall under which our two Flashworks Photobooths were situated along with a few rows of cowboy-style cocktails tables dressed with Alberta Premium banners.

CFR goers started filing in after the rodeo at Rexall and even before the band started playing people were dancing to music videos playing on the two huge projection screens on either side of the stage flanked with large decorative cow skulls. As the crowds arrived, the queue began to grow at the photobooths. Upon the realization that they could dress up in front of a green screen with anything from a feather boa to Thor’s hammer, these cowboys and girls were stoked. Two lovely ladies from Alberta Premium were taking our instant prints, inserting them into plastic sleeves with lanyards and handing them out to the patrons along with free Alberta Premium t-shirts. One of the most memorable quotes of the night was when a lady came to us and shouted, “This is the best moment in my life!” after seeing the printout of one of her photo sessions.

When four-time British Columbia Country Music Association (BCCMA) award nominee Jordan Doell hit the stage around 10:30pm, the crowd really went wild. Playing a range of tunes including his own compositions and some classics such as Journey’s, “Don’t Stop Believin’ ” and Neil Young’s, “Rockin’ in the Free World,” everyone was singing and bobbling their heads to the music.

It was a wild and crazy time at the CFR and many guests danced from the moment they walked through the doors until the band finished playing around midnight. Some exuberant souls were still dancing when Flashworks finished packing up at 2am. Thanks to Alberta Premium and Jim Beam for inviting Flashworks Photobooth to what could possibly be the party of the year!
