Never has Flashworks Photobooth been invited to such a musical wedding as Carin and Pouya’s.
As guests entered the Blatchford Field Hangar at Fort Edmonton Park, they were asked to line up in front of a ticket box to gain admission for this musical event. A ticket seller handed each guest an admission envelope containing a CD with 12 favourite songs of bride and groom and a ticket to this exceptional event.
In the dining area, each of the eighteen tables were dedicated to their own bit of musical theater, with colours and decorations to match their theme. For example, table “Mamma Mia” featured a centerpiece of a pair of purple sparkling shoes surrounded by white fluffy feather and another table had a rotary dial telephone and typewriter representing the musical “Promises, Promises.” There was a table for “The Sound of Music”, “The Producer”, “Rent”, “The Lion King”, amongst others. The ticket that guests received at the entrance indicated which musical was theirs for the evening. There was also the table “Annie” was where one could load up on sweets and popcorn while “The Rocky Horror” bar was the somewhat macabre place to go for all sorts of libations.
Just as the MC announced the “show” would be starting soon the huge hangar doors slowly opened. The bride and groom walked in and started their dance followed by a sudden music change when the bridesmaids moved onto the dance floor and lined up behind the bride for a group dance. More than just a wedding, this celebration really was a musical event of its own.
After everyone was seated, the MC and bride’s brother in law, provided an introduction to the bridal party and laid out the rules for the kissing game which involved guests coming up to the stage to sing a song that’s related to the musical at their table. But, this challenging undertaking did not deter the guests. Table “Grease” took the initiative and provided a good example for everyone else.
After the buffet dinner, speeches commenced where the maid of honor, best man, and parents of bride and groom all gave touching speeches. Especially memorable was Carin’s mother’s recollection how the girls at work wanted to find their manager a wife, which came to fruition that day. When Carin and Pouya spoke, they thanked all in attendance, especially those from Scottland, the US, Ontario, BC, amongst others. The speeches concluded with a group dance, by the bride, bridesmaids, and the flower girls. Afterwards, the party continued on with more dancing and photobooth fun.
Carin and Pouya, thanks for making us part of your special day! We’d like to congratulation you and wish you many long and happy years together as husband and wife!
