Sarah’s and Shawn’s wedding…wow!
You two had a truly gorgeous wedding! The décor was absolutely amazing with a high class theme of turquoise and damask with diamonds, peacock feathers, and orchids. Upon entering the foyer to the Empire Ballroom at the Fairmont Macdonald Hotel, guests retrieved their table assignments via specially wrapped chocolates which also indicated their selection of dinner entrée. They were also encouraged to write a message to the bride and groom and hang it up on a “wishing tree” blooming with orchid blossoms. The Strathcona String Quartet played enchanting melodies through the cocktail hour and dinner while guests partook in the twoonie, the proceeds of which were donated to the Connect Society benefiting children and adults with hearing disabilities.
Inside the ballroom, each table featured a tall silver candelabra topped with an ornate bouquet, and additional candles and diamonds sat upon the velvety turquoise tablecloth. Peacock feathers and a solitary orchid made their way in the bow of each chair cover. Sarah’s and Shawn’s wedding cake was decorated with their monogram and a damask pattern, and was placed next to a multi-tiered display of pretty wedding cupcakes.
The MC did and excellent job of entertaining guests and introduced the wedding party one person at a time with humourous stories and anecdotes. After introductions, the bride and groom proceeded to have their first dance to Michael Bublé’s “The Way You Look Tonight.” After dinner, Don from “Maybe Someday” spun from great tunes and acoustic sets. Toward the end of the evening, guests were treated to some reggae and were given party favours and leis to celebrate the young couple’s impending honeymoon to Jamaica. Every step of the way, Mark and Rima from Mark-it Creations documented it all on video, while Erik and Blake from Erik Hornung Photography were on-site to snap all the memorable moments.
And of course, everyone had a blast at our photo booth set-up with our special green-screen option. It was fun to watch guests interacting with the randomly selected backgrounds of a tropical beach scene, a waterfall of beer, a lion roaring, and a turquoise and damask pattern background with monogram to match Sarah’s and Shawn’s invitation. The laughter was contagious as spectators watched these superimposed backgrounds in real-time on our large external TV screen. Sarah and Shawn were also our first clients to opt for 6×8 print-outs which, along with the green-screen, took the photo booth experience up to another level.
Sarah and Shawn, thank-you very much for having Flashworks Photobooth at your spectacular reception. It was quite the treat! All the very best wishes to the both of you as you start your new journey together as husband and wife.
