The employees and volunteers at the Terra Centre give a great deal of themselves empowering teen parents to succeed. On this day, the staff had a chance to relax and enjoy an afternoon of fun activities in gratitude for their hard work.

The day at the Cloverdale Community Hall started off with a quick introduction of all the new employees and volunteers that have started within the last year. This was followed with an icebreaker game where a Disney princess beach ball was thrown around the room. The beach ball had questions written on it and whomever caught the ball had to answer the question closest to their left thumb. The questions included queries as, “Where would you go in the world and why?” and “If you were a tree what kind would you be?”

Afterward the beach ball game, those in attendance could chose between a number of different activities. There was a corner where canvases and paints were set-up, a room where the staff could play a variety of board games, and of course, a corner where fun could be had in our photobooth. Guests could also enjoy some tobogganing on the large hill behind the community centre.

The hall itself was decorated with green, red and yellow table cloths while sombreros decorated the walls and colourful balloons hung from the ceiling

There was a morning breakfast of muffins, cookies, and tim bits along with fruit, coffee and tea, and a margarita machine. Later in the day, this was replaced by a tasty lunch catered by Bridges Catering featuring a delicious chicken taco salad with corn bread cupcakes, and tortilla chips and dip. This was followed by dessert cups of black forest cake and banana crumble. There was also a candy table loaded with bowls filled with candies the likes of mike and ikes, runts, hot tamalies, jujubes, gummie worms, among many others.

After lunch a member from the board said a few words in appreciation for all the hard work the staff at the Terra Centre perform. Following this, the tables were put away and a slideshow playing in which each team member was individually thanked.
