Flashworks Photobooth had a fun time at the University of Alberta Museums Volunteer Appreciation Night.
Held in the Telus Centre at the U of A, guests had a chance to schmooze and volunteers were rewarded for their hard work with finger food, cotton candy, popcorn, door prizes and our photobooth, of course. During a short formal program many people were recognized. The following individuals were inducted in the Curator Hall of Fame:
- Ruth Gruhn/Alan Bryan ~ Department of Anthropology – Archaeology and Ethnographic Collections,
- Ronald Burwash ~ Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Petrology Collection,
- Anne Lambert ~ Department of Human Ecology, Clothing and Textiles Collection, and
- Mark Wilson ~ Department of Biological Sciences, Laboratory for Vertebrate Paleontology.
These volunteers were also acknowledged:
- Tristan Ellenberger ~ WG Hardy Museum for Ancient Near Eastern and Classical Antiquities, and
- Allison Brett ~ Clothing and Textiles Collection.
Congratulations to you all!
Many interesting and unique items from different museum collections were showed off as part of a “side show” exhibit. These included specimens of carnivorous plants found in Alberta, the Atapuerca 5 Skull of a Homo heidelbergensis, tapeworms found in the William Hawreliak Park lake, the tibia of a 72 million year old Hadrosaur, and a paper dress created in 1968 by Harry Gordan.
Thanks for having Flashworks Photobooth at your event!
