This year’s Waiward Steel Christmas party was held at the Edmonton Expo Centre which was delightfully decorated for the Christmas season.

In the foyer area outside the ballroom stood three large Christmas trees studded with red and yellow lights and surrounded by colorful gift boxes. Upon entering the spacious ballroom, the stage immediately caught one’s eye.  With a theme black and white, three tall white curtains were interspersed with two black curtains on either side.  The lighting from below the curtains created a neat effect. The DJ was positioned in the middle of the stage and played relaxing Christmas songs throughout the first part of the evening and through dinner.

Each guest table featured a simple, yet elegant centerpiece of red and white carnations amongst greenery of spruce and small burgundy Christmas ornaments. Near the entrance, a large projector screen cycled through photos of employees and the variety of activities that the company had during the year.

The dinner had something for everyone with a range of dishes such as baked potatoes, sliced turkey, sliced roasted beef, perogies, and mixed vegetables while every table relieved a dessert plate filled with different kinds of cheese cakes, butter cookies, grapes and chocolate cake with syrup.

Following dinner and a few words from the president, the door prizes were drawn where about a dozen lucky guests won white envelopes containing gift cards.  This concluded the formal part of the evening and the music, dancing, and photobooth fun really kicked off!
