The Elk Point Arts and Leisure Centre was transformed into an elegant and stylish ballroom with Kara and Darris’s theme of white, magenta, black damask.
Guests entered the main hall through a trellis with black columns, magenta fabric draping down, and white material creating a large ruffle type effect hanging down from the canopy. Under this trellis was a long black guestbook table with a white and black damask runner and four cylindrical vases each with a submerged pink rose and pink waterlily candle floating above. Guests were also able to sign the photo guestbook with their well wishes for the bride and groom.
Inside the main area of the hall the round tables were dressed in black with a white runner with black damask pattern. The tables featured a silver candlestick holder with four glass hurricane lamps and a sphere or red roses in the centre. A satin magenta napkin was placed at each place setting along with a magenta pouch with drawstring containing caramel candies. Every seat was covered in a black chair cover with wide magenta ribbon tied in a bow.
The head table was similarly decorated but with with a white tablecloth hanging down in front in elegant curves. The candlestick holders were much taller and each setting at the table had a special, jewel encrusted wine glass. However, the most distinct feature was the ornate backdrop to the head table. Sparkling clear beads caught the light in the room while sheer white fabric formed long overlapping curves which were tied at their lowest points with white and magenta material trailing down.
The bridal party entered to Pitbull’s “Give Me Everything“. The bridesmaids were dressed in pink strapless dresses while the dashing groomsmen wore black suits, with black shirts, and magenta vests and ties. After the MCs performed introductions and set some ground rules, a tasty dinner prepared by Master Catering was served. Toward the end of dinner, the speeches started up with an entertaining slideshow of Kara and Darris’s younger days presented halfway through.
After the conclusion of the speeches and the cutting and distribution of the wedding cake by the bridal party, Kara and Darris had their first dance to a cover of Ben. E King’s “Stand by Me” followed by a butterfly dance with some jigging mixed in for a group dance for the bridal party. From that point forward, the group “Northern Highway” played music of a more traditional genre, after which the DJ took over.
Throughout the formal portion of the evening, Melissa and Jessica from melissarstyba photography in Bonnyville were on hand to capture all of the memorable moments. And once the dance got going, the Flashworks Photobooth was running full tilt all night snapping all the hilarity Kara and Darris’s guests had to offer.
